New York LTC Provider Donates Medical Supplies, Other Goods to Haiti Relief
(2/3/2010)
Beth Abraham Family of Health Services, a non-profit long-term care provider in New York State, has donated $7,000 worth of medical supplies for relief to the Haitian Physicians Association.
Some of the donated supplies were personally delivered by Beth Abraham's clinical staff members who went to Haiti to treat the injured. Bins were set up at numerous Beth Abraham sites to collect employee donations of non-perishable items such as canned goods, bottled water, and sheets and blankets, which were sent to Haiti with members of The Haitian League. The provider’s staff has also collected monetary donations and conducted various fund raising activities, including benefit breakfasts and luncheons, to raise money that will go to those in need in Haiti.
Beth Abraham has employees, residents, and patients who are Haitian, many of whom lost relatives in Haiti's earthquake. The organization is offering support groups, as well as individual psychological counseling, to help people deal with these devastating circumstances. Beth Abraham is holding spiritual services as well.
